FAQs

The Rollpacker's aluminum hanger works with most standard saddles that have conventional rails. It requires a standard seat post (round or shaped) and saddle rails with normal spacing. However, it may not be compatible with: carbon rails (we don't recommend due to stress concentration), saddles with unusually wide rail spacing, some Brooks-style leather saddles with unique rail geometry, or suspension seat posts. Check your saddle rail material and configuration before ordering.

Choose the 15L for weekend bikepacking trips, credit-card touring, or when you're running a minimalist setup with multiple bags (frame bag, handlebar bag, etc.). Choose the 20L for week-long tours, cold-weather trips requiring bulky sleeping bags and insulated clothing, or when you need maximum seat bag capacity. The 15L is more aerodynamic and lighter; the 20L provides substantially more room for extended adventures or less-than-ultralight gear.

Proper installation of the aluminum hanger is key. The hanger positions the bag at a specific height and angle to maintain tire clearance. Adjust the hanger's angle and height during installation following Arkel's instructions. Most standard touring and gravel bike geometries provide adequate clearance with both 15L and 20L sizes. However, bikes with very slack seat tube angles or limited seat post extension may have tighter clearance‚ test with the bag partially loaded before heading out.
