FAQs

The T-42 Classic does not include an internal waterproof liner. The Cordura fabric is water-resistant and will handle light to moderate rain, but for complete waterproof protection, we recommend adding rain covers (sold separately). Rain covers also increase visibility and keep road grime off your panniers. For fully waterproof panniers without covers, consider the Dolphin or Orca series.

The T-42 is designed primarily as a rear touring pannier due to its 21L per-bag capacity and feature set. For front rack use, we recommend the GT-18 Classic (18L) or T-28 Classic (14L per bag), which are specifically designed to complement rear panniers and provide better front-end handling with their moderate capacities. The T-42's size works best on rear racks for balanced weight distribution.

The T-42 (42L total) is Arkel's mid-size touring option, perfect for week-long tours or riders who don't need maximum capacity. The GT-54 (54L total) is our largest touring pannier for extended expeditions with more gear requirements. T-42 offers excellent organization with multiple pockets, while GT-54 adds even more compartments plus a detachable tent sleeve. Choose T-42 for most touring needs; choose GT-54 for long expeditions or cold-weather tours requiring bulky gear.
